Who We Are
Soma Therapy is a full service psychotherapy center that works with adults, children, couples, and families. Our clinicians have specialized training in many areas that may be helpful to you. These areas include eating disorders, complex trauma, perinatal and women’s issues, veteran issues, men’s issues, depression and anxiety. We seek to fill the need for holistic and evidence-based, bottom-up and top-down psychotherapy in the greater Wichita area. As a result, we offer a safe environment to explore your mental health concerns and facilitate healing. Our providers facilitate through interventions including yoga, nutrition and medication management. In addition to outstanding credentials and years of experience, our providers are also empathetic “wounded healers.”
In other words, Soma’s providers have gone through their own journey of healing. Our providers bring compassion and understanding to the work they do in helping others with their mental health.
Why We Are Here
Soma Therapy is here to provide integrated mental health treatment for the greater Wichita and Kansas area. Many of our clients find that they are in need of bottom-up services to heal their trauma and better integrated services to treat their issues from a whole-body perspective.
Soma Therapy provides the following integrated services: psychotherapy, family therapy, couples therapy, groups, dietitian and nutrition counseling services, medication management and even yoga (both trauma-informed, one-on-one, and yoga therapy groups).
Meanwhile, we also work closely as allies to other community mental health organizations. We know that with collaboration, our Wichita community and resources are #strongertogether.
What We Believe
At Soma Therapy, we believe that there are many causes that come together in the perfect storm to create mental health concerns or trauma. These concerns can impact your ability to function emotionally, spiritually, mentally, physically, and socially in your day-to-day life. Our providers define trauma as what happens INSIDE of us when we experience something traumatic (which can be a multitude of things). Consequently, trauma results in us disconnecting from our true, healthy self. Similarly, trauma can also result in viewing ourselves negatively or the world around us. This can feel like struggling to regulate emotions or numbness from emotions (internally or externally).
We all need support, guidance and help on our path to reconnecting with ourselves. Soma Therapy’s integrated services is the answer to that need.
